This year, on May 30, EarthShare New Jersey honored Edward Lloyd with the ESNJ Environmental Stewardship award at the annual EarthShare Celebrates event. At last year’s event, the award went to Candace Ashmun. The Environmental Stewardship Award recognizes individuals who have nstrated a lifetime of commitment to the environment of New Jersey through conservation, preservation, education and community activism.  Mr. Lloyd and Ms. Ashmun have both been advocates for the environment for many years and, coincidentally, are both on the Board of Directors for The Fund for New Jersey.

“The Fund for New Jersey joins in congratulating Edward Lloyd and Candace Ashmun on receiving the recognition from EarthShare for their tireless work on behalf of New Jersey’s environment. Lloyd and Ashmun are exemplary stewards of environmental policy in New Jersey, and long-time Trustees of The Fund,” says Kiki Jamieson, President, The Fund for New Jersey. “We at The Fund salute EarthShare’s commitment to making New Jersey an even better place to live, and we recognize that several of The Fund’s current and recent grantees are among its members: ANJEC, Clean Water Fund, EELC, NJCF, ALS, Clean Ocean Action, and PPA. These groups are very important to New Jersey, and we appreciate EarthShare’s support of their work.”

The Fund for New Jersey distributes grants to organizations in New Jersey, which are working to improve the quality of public-policy decision making. The Fund for New Jersey’s goal is to advance systemic and sustainable solutions to public problems through the work of policy, advocacy, analysis, and organizing.

Currently, the organization is supporting the creation of policies that benefit low-income children and their families, the expansion of the availability of affordable housing, and an increase in supportive housing units to serve people with special needs and the chronically homeless. They are also funding many initiatives to advance the rights and opportunities of immigrants in New Jersey and to advocate for comprehensive immigration reform.

EarthShare NJ is impressed with the caliber of people of the Board of Directors of the Fund for New Jersey and is honored to present awards to individuals like Mr. Lloyd, Ms. Ashmun, and the many others who are tireless advocates for our environment. Visit www.fundfornj.org for more information.
