ESNJ Privacy Policy and Notice

What is personal data? 

EarthShare New Jersey values and respects your right to privacy.  We are committed to protecting your personal information, and will make every reasonable effort to keep that information secure.   When we obtain your personal data for reasons required to conduct business (as described below), we make every effort to protect that data.  We consider personal data to be data that directly identifies you (such as your name) and also data that does not directly identify you, but can reasonably be used to identify you (such as the IP address of your device visiting our website).  We do not consider aggregated or anonymized data to be considered personal data for the purposes of this Privacy Policy. 

 

Your Privacy Rights  

At EarthShare New Jersey, we respect your ability to know, access, correct, transfer, restrict the processing of, and delete your personal data.  If you would like to exercise these rights, you may submit a request via email to businessmanager@earthsharenj.org .  There are some situations where we may not be able to fulfill your request.  An example could include if you were to request that we delete certain personal data that may be required to process a transaction you had authorized. 

 

Types of Personal Data EarthShare New Jersey may collect from you 

EarthShare New Jersey utilizes donors’ personal information such as names, mailing addresses and email addresses only for purposes of donor acknowledgement and/or when an individual voluntarily provides this information and opts to join our mailing list. EarthShare New Jersey does not share or sell donors’ personal or contact information with any third party organizations for purposes of solicitation. For purposes of individual donor acknowledgement, EarthShare New Jersey releases donor names, contact information and donation amounts to those EarthShare New Jersey partner charities that are designated by our donors, and only with the written consent of the donor.  You have the right to withdraw this consent at any time and may do so by emailing businessmanager@earthsharenj.org. 

Visitors to the EarthShare New Jersey Web site remain anonymous. EarthShare New Jersey does not require visitors to register or provide demographic information to view the site or donate to EarthShare New Jersey. There are instances when site visitors are asked for additional information in order to provide requested services. For example, information will be requested when making an online donation to EarthShare New Jersey so that the gift may be properly processed and receipted. EarthShare New Jersey’s online donors choose the personal information that EarthShare New Jersey receives and can opt to remain anonymous. All credit card transactions are conducted over a secure server. Details regarding the transaction (i.e., credit card or bank information) is not retained in our database.  

 

How EarthShare New Jersey uses your personal data 

As noted above, EarthShare New Jersey uses your personal information to process donations, keep you updated via newsletter or e-mail blast, or to provide you with volunteer opportunities.   

EarthShare New Jersey uses a number of web analytics products to optimize our website, including Google Analytics and Google Website Optimizer. These tools do not require our site visitors to identify themselves, and they do not provide any personally identifiable information about our visitors that is not supplied voluntarily. Our goal in using analytics is to understand what parts of our website you like and which parts need work. We encourage you to accept cookies when surfing our website so we can do our job of providing you useful information as effectively as possible.  If you prefer not to use cookies, we provide you with the means to disable their use. If you want to disable cookies you may do so by checking with your browsing provider to find out how to disable cookies.  Certain features of a website may not be available if all cookies are disabled.
