Volunteers Needed for Dodge Poetry Festival

Volunteers Needed for Dodge Poetry Festival

This fall, from October 23 – 26, the largest poetry event in North America, The Geraldine R. Dodge Poetry Festival, will bring renowned poets from across the U.S. and around the world to read, perform and discuss poetry with audiences in Newark.

Over the course of those four days, downtown Newark will become a poetry village, with poets and audiences talking and mingling throughout. This will be a showcase for Newark – and that’s where you come in.

One of the best parts of the Festival is Clean Water Fund’s effort to implement “zero waste” procedures to make this one of the “greenest” events in New Jersey. The organization can not do this alone.

The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation and Clean Water Fund are seeking volunteers to help reduce the environmental impact of this event and to support the sustainability plan for the City of Newark. This is essential to a successful Festival. Will you consider volunteering with them?

As a volunteer, not only will you be contributing to a massive sustainability program and the image of Newark as an arts and environment leader, you will also receive a t-shirt, refreshments and meals while you are on duty. Most importantly, you get free admittance to all poetry events on the day you are volunteering. This is your chance to see a past or future U.S. Poet Laureate, a Pulitzer Prize winner, a National Book Award winner…or a young poet just beginning his or her career.

Volunteer for this great festival today! To volunteer for the festival, click here. Contact Kim Gaddy at 973-420-7925 or kgaddy@cleanwater.org with any questions.

We hope that you will take this opportunity to volunteer for Clean Water Fund’s “Green Team” for the Dodge Poetry Festival, and be a part of something truly special for Newark and all of New Jersey.
