Written by Katelyn NolandFederal Agencies, Latest News – Sep 2, 2011

CFC 50th Anniversary The 50th anniversary season of the Combined Federal Campaign started Thursday and will continue through Dec. 15, the Office of Personnel Management has announced.

CFC, originally created by President John F. Kennedy in 1961, allows charitable organizations to solicit contributions from employees of the government, enabling federal employees to donate to their charity of choice through their payroll system.

“I’m asking each local CFC to also inspire new and greater numbers of donors, with a new award for the campaigns that show the greatest increase in participation,” OPM John Berry said in a memo. “Let’s make this 50th year an outstanding year—one that marks a new era that will endure for the next fifty years.”
