Summer is coming to an end and fall is approaching. To welcome this new season, EarthShare New Jersey’s member groups have many fun fall activities and events planned.

Flat Rock Brook Nature Center
Englewood, NJ

Great Fall Festival
Friday, October 19

Essential Oils 101 Workshop: Prepare for the Cold Weather!

Ever wonder about essential oils? Homeopathic remedies naturally relieve stress, fatigue and other ailments. Join Flat Rock Brook Nature Center and learn first-hand the wonders of essential oils and how they are helpful in our everyday lives. Full Moon Howl

For families with children ages 5 and older.
What can you see by the light of the full moon at Flat Rock Brook Nature Center? Why does the moon change shape? Why do the full moons have names, and what is November’s full moon called? Come on a night-time hike and find out. We’ll conduct activities to test how sharp your senses are in the dark and search for signs of nocturnal life. Bring a flashlight. Hoot, Waddle & Stroll 5K Trail Run & 1 Mile Walk
Sunday, September 28
10:00 a.m. – Noon
A fun, family fundraising event at Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge. Participants are invited to form teams and fundraise via pledges. Race and walk begin at 10:00 am. For registration information, visit the Woodford Cedar Run website.

Autumn with the Animals
September 28
Noon – 4:00 p.m.
Wildlife programs, live music by Branin Road, Naturalist led nature hikes, games, make and take crafts, guided tours of the Residential Wildlife Housing area, canoeing on Cedar Run Lake, and food available from Brother Bear BBQ. Programs will include Hunters of the Sky and Amazing Reptiles. Home Depot of Berlin will bring a nature-based craft (available while supplies last). Clean Ocean Action

Annual Beach Sweeps

9:00 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.
In 1985, 75 volunteers gathered at Sandy Hook, NJ for the first Beach Sweep with hopes to rid the beaches of unsightly and harmful debris. 26 years later, the Beach Sweeps have expanded to 72 locations along the New Jersey Coastline, including inland rivers, lakes, bayshores and streams. 5th Annual Autumn Toast to a Healthy Environment

Fall Migration Festival

At The Wetlands Institute, fall is an especially good time to experience the changing of seasons and the spectacle of migration of raptors, warblers, waterfowl, and more. In an effort to spread the word about this incredible time of year, The Wetlands Institute will be hosting a Fall Migration Festival. Visitors of all ages will be able to see, explore, learn, and enjoy! We’ll have guided viewing of migratory birds, live animals presentation, naturalist-led bird, butterfly and dragonfly viewing walks, back-bay kayak and boat tours, assorted crafts, autumn terrapin releases, and much more! 10th Annual Tour de Pines Bicycle Tour
October  1 – 5
The 2014 Tour de Pines, sponsored by Pinelands Preservation Alliance, celebrates Pinelands Month in October with five consecutive single day bicycle tours of the New Jersey Pinelands. Each day’s tour will range from 40-55 miles per day and begin and end at the same location. See the birthplace of the Jersey Devil, NJ’s first state forest (Bass River), have lunch on the mysterious Bridge to Nowhere, ride through acres of pitch pine trees and open space, cross the Great Egg Harbor via the gigantic 9th Street Bridge and much more!
